To encourage high school students to be actively involved in the community, the TACL, Los Angeles Chapter began its Journalism Internship Program in 1999. Every year, TACL works with Rosemead-based weekly newspaper Pacific Times to provide talented high school students an opportunity to intern in a professional environment. This program offers students the experience of what it is like to be in the world of journalism and media. The interns learn first hand the production and distribution of a newspaper and benefit from interactions with journalism professionals. In addition, the program includes attendance to community events and volunteering activities.
This program is FREE OF CHARGE. Interns can earn community service hours.
Open to high school students in grades 10 to 12. Application can be found here: http://tacl.org/doc/TACL_JIP_Application_2011.doc
Application due March 31, 2011. See http://tacl.org/programs/tacl-leadership-development/198-journalism-internship for more info. |
